timeline game github linkedin resume

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Graduated from UWM (Go Panthers). Big Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks, and Green Bay Packers fan.

Spent about 10 years in LA (2 of them split with the Bay Area), a few years in Nashville, 1 year as a digital nomad, and finally landed in Atlanta, GA.

I like watching sports: NFL (Go Pack Go), NCAAF (Go Dawgs), NHL (Go Preds), and tennis (I wish I found the time to play). I'm also an aspiring amateur darter.

When I'm not in front of my laptop, I'm working out with kettlebells, landscaping the yard, cycling around, fishing the hooch, and spending time with my beautiful wife Christina, our two doges Governor and Lieutenant, and our cat Augustus.

the plain timeline

Every position, latest first, with one receipt each. The game below is a theatrical way to read this same list.

  1. Still building, never idle.

    say hi

  2. Data platform engineer to senior staff, Doximity

Built, managed, and scaled the marketplace as founding CTO. All cash founder share buyback in May 2021.

Managed 16 engineers. Learned what management costs and what it teaches. Then left to build my own idea instead of scaling someone else's.

  5. Software engineer, platform, ChowNow

Left at month 8. Wrong fit, recognized early, exited cheap.

  6. Co-founder, Keenoh

First founder attempt, run in parallel with the Media Temple day job. A real estate search app aggregating directly from MLS and operating as a brokerage, a little like Redfin today. It failed before launch.

  7. Senior software engineer, Media Temple

Production Linux at a hosting company, where other people's uptime is your problem. The ops foundation everything downstream runs on. Acquired by GoDaddy during this run.

  10. Software developer, Culture Jam

Second engineering hire at what became PromoJam. Built promo campaigns for music artists like Rihanna and Everclear.

  11. Freelance developer

Hustling to grow my network on small clients, but mostly consulting for MyLife, which was trying to aggregate social and email messages into one interface.

  12. Technical consultant, Scene Unseen

Friend and technical consultant to Chris and Jimmy, who built one of the earliest and fairly popular movie podcasts of the time.

  13. Lead UI developer and consultant, Belay Development

A brochure and estore factory before Shopify existed. Built sites on Drupal, WordPress, and a custom asp.net framework.

I build the platforms other engineers build on. Most of that work looks like a pipeline: many small tasks, wired into an order, run until every task comes back clean.

So this site is one. The timeline above is the plain version. The game below is the same story, wired up: tap the nodes into a valid order and run it, and each task reveals a milestone.

tap two tasks to wire them, tap a wire to remove it, then run. or skip it, the whole story is written out above.
